How to get this look at home

Inside a shower, use timber only if it's wood-effect porcelain or WPC. Real wood in a daily shower ends up with blackened joints however well you treat it.
A backlit mirror replaces side sconces in a dark bathroom, but it leaves your face in shadow. If you shave or do makeup there, add a front-facing light as well.
Budget version: keep the tiling you already have and change three things only — black brassware, a backlit mirror and a timber vanity. Those carry nearly all of the effect.
Mix black and brass, but give each metal a zone: black in the shower and on the radiator, brass only at the basin. Alternating them around the room is what makes it look undecided.
With little natural light, choose plants that tolerate shade and high humidity, and raise them in a tall pot so the base isn't sitting in the splash zone.

Can you use wood inside a shower?

Natural wood is a poor idea in a shower used daily: however well sealed, constant moisture eventually opens the joints and mould follows. What does work is wood-textured porcelain or WPC, which look identical from half a metre and clean like tile. Save real timber for a duckboard you can lift out and dry.

How do you light a dark bathroom without it feeling gloomy?

Several warm sources rather than one powerful ceiling fitting: the mirror halo, a downlight inside the shower, and two or three overhead. What makes a dark bathroom gloomy isn't the wall colour but having a single cold source that leaves the corners dead. Here the lit shower works as another lamp.

How much upkeep does matt black brassware need?

More than photos suggest: a matt finish shows limescale and fingerprints far sooner than chrome, especially in hard water areas. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry straight away, and avoid aggressive limescale removers, which eat the matt coating. If your water is very hard, it's worth thinking twice.
