Luxury Zen bedroom with mountain triptych and forest green bedding
A space of absolute serenity where dark wood panels wrap the walls and a Chinese ink mountain painting triptych presides over the headboard. Gold cylindrical lighting and green accents in the bedding create a perfect balance between nature and luxury.
A tray ceiling with a recessed perimeter conceals an LED strip, drawing a rectangle of light and visually raising the height of the room.
An ink-wash mountain triptych, split across three slim gold frames, spans almost the full width of the headboard.
Two vertical light bars flank the artwork, replacing bedside lamps and leaving the nightstand tops clear.
The walls are clad in dark wood in flat panels rather than slats, wrapping the room without the visual vibration grooves create.
Forest green is the only accent, repeated in two cushions and along the foot of the bed over white bedding.
A faded Persian rug in muted tones softens the dark walnut floor without introducing a new colour.

Small rustic white ceramic vase with matte finish, perfect for placing on the nightstand with dried branches or pampas grass. An organic, natural touch that complements the bedroom's Zen oriental aesthetic.

Forest green / dark green duvet cover set with pillow shams
Washed cotton duvet cover set in dark forest green with natural linen-like texture. Its deep green tones dialogue with the wood panels and mountain painting, completing the natural, serene Zen atmosphere.
Hang a triptych with equal, narrow gaps between frames so it reads as one piece. Open the gaps too far and you have three separate pictures.
Vertical bars work beside a headboard because they light the full height from top to bottom. Turned horizontal they do the opposite and flatten the wall.
Budget version: flat panelling is easy to imitate with MDF boards painted the same tone and trimmed with beading. From a metre away you can't tell it from walnut veneer.
With dark walls and a dark floor, white bedding is what keeps the room from closing in. It's the large pale plane the scheme needs.
If the floor is already dark, choose a faded rug rather than a vivid one. A saturated Persian over walnut turns the floor into the main event.
FAQ
How do you hang a triptych above a bed?
Centred on the headboard rather than the wall, with equal narrow gaps between frames, and the whole group treated as a single picture when you work out the width — between half and two thirds of the bed width is a good guide. The usual height leaves the bottom edge a hand's width or so above the headboard, just enough that they don't touch.
Should you clad a small bedroom in dark wood?
You can, provided you bring in one large pale surface — here it's the bedding and the artwork. Dark wood doesn't shrink a room on its own; what shrinks it is leaving nowhere for the eye to rest. If the room gets little daylight, clad two walls only and leave the others plain and pale.
What lighting suits a tray ceiling?
An LED strip hidden inside the recess, aimed at the ceiling and never downward, so you see the glow rather than the source. At 2700 K the light comes out warm and the ceiling does the reflecting. Pair it with a few downlights, because cove light alone looks lovely but isn't enough to get dressed or find something by.
