How to get this look at home

Hang the lanterns at different heights and in an odd number. Levelled at the same height they look like a shop display rather than a bedroom.
Bold wallpaper needs the other walls plain and in the palest tone taken from the paper itself — never pure white.
Budget version: the swagged string of bulbs changes the room more than any light fitting, and it goes up on adhesive hooks without touching the ceiling.
