How to get this look at home

Mount the TV on the flat panel and keep the slats to the sides. Over grooved timber you end up cutting slats away for the bracket and the cabling shows.
Switch the cove light on whenever the TV is on: the halo around it cuts the contrast with a dark room and is noticeably easier on your eyes.
Budget version: paint the centre strip a mid beige and limit the slats to two narrow panels either side. The symmetry still holds with far less timber.
Lift the low unit off the floor and run an LED strip beneath it. In a long room, seeing the floor continue behind the furniture is what creates the sense of width.

A mid tone, matt, neither white nor black. Here it's a sand beige: light enough that the dark screen doesn't read as a stain, muted enough that it doesn't glow once the room goes dark. Pure white is the worst partner, because it outlines the black rectangle even more sharply.

How do you hide cabling in a slatted wood wall?

Through the air gap between the battens and the masonry: the cables drop down that void into the low unit, where the router and sockets live. Leave a conduit or draw cord in place during the build, because once the wall is closed there is no way to pull a new cable without taking slats off.

How high should a coffee table be relative to the sofa?

As a working rule, level with the seat or slightly below it, never above the arm. This one is deliberately low and wide, which works in a generous room because it reinforces the horizontal. In a small living room a table like this eats the walkway — there, something taller with a smaller top earns its place.
